POLICY FOR LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
The Our Town welcomes Letters to the Editor as a
way for residents to share opinions, discuss local
issues, and participate in community conversation.
We value respectful dialogue and a variety of viewpoints.
Submission Requirements
Letters should be 200-300 words or less.
Letters over the word limit may be reduced at the Editor’s discretion.
All letters are subject to editing for styling, mechanics and grammar. Letters must be the original work of the
author unless citation is provided.
Letters containing language or content that is offensive,
or that, in the Editor’s discretion,
is inappropriate, will not be published.
Letters should focus on the opinion(s)
of the writer, not facts.
Any statement of facts not generally known or accepted
to be true will be removed. All letters must be signed
by the writer, with address and phone number provided
for verification only. Letters will be printed with the
author’s name and city of residence only.
Anonymous letters will not be published. Letters
containing statements that are libelous or slanderous
will not be published, nor will letters that include attacks
of a personal nature. Letters regarding an election issue
or candidate should focus on issues and qualifications
and may not be published in the issue immediately preceding
election day.
To ensure a variety of voices, individuals may be
limited to one published letter in a certain time
period at the discretion of the Editor.
Letters containing commercial advertising or
promotional material may not be accepted as a
“Letter to the Editor.” Due to space constraints,
not all letters submitted may be published.
Submission does not guarantee publication.
This publication policy is subject to amendment
without notice at the Editor’s discretion.
The Editor reserves the right to accept, reject, or
edit any letter for any reason consistent with this policy.
All questions/submissions of
Letters to the Editor should be provided to:
